General responsabilities

• It establishes, according to the law, measures for the defence of fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as of public and private property.
• Organises and carries out, through specialized structures, according to competence, activities to prevent and combat terrorism, organised crime, drug trafficking and illicit consumption, human trafficking, illegal migration, computer crime, as well as other criminal phenomena and antisocial acts.
• It organises, directs and coordinates the activity of protection of persons, assets, objectives and values ​​and organises the guarding of objectives of particular importance given in the competence according to the law.
• Ensures, according to the competences, the carrying out of the activity for carrying out investigations in connection with the commission of certain acts stipulated by the criminal law.
• Organises witness protection activity.
• Requests from public authorities, natural or legal persons information, data and documents necessary to fulfill the duties established by law and within its limits; can reward natural persons who provide support to the ministry, for the fulfilment of specific duties, from the fund allocated for this purpose, under the conditions established by order of the minister.
• Ensures compliance with Bengen's state border regime.
• Organises and executes the medical and psychological insurance of specific missions.
• Leads the activity of information and internal protection.
• Guides and controls the activity of the prefect for the fulfilment of the Government Program.
• Ensures, through subordinate specialised structures, the application of the strategy and the Government Program in the field of public function management and civil servants, the formation and improvement of professional training specialised in the activity of records of persons, as well as the activity of prevention and management of emergency situations civil.
