Tasks and responsabilities

Economic policy

• Formulates the Republic’s overall economic strategy, including growth, competitiveness, industrial development, and investment frameworks.
• Conducts macroeconomic analysis and forecasting to guide federal decision-making.
• Designs policies to support strategic sectors, foreign investment, SME development, and regional economic cohesion.
• Oversees state-owned enterprises from an economic-performance perspective and ensures compliance with federal economic priorities.

Budgetary policy and public expenditure

• Prepares the annual federal budget and medium-term fiscal planning documents.
• Monitors execution of the federal budget across ministries and federal agencies.
• Evaluates public spending efficiency and enforces fiscal discipline across provincial and district administrations.
• Manages federal public debt, including issuance of government securities.

Tax and levy policy

• Drafts and updates tax legislation and federal levies, including direct taxes, indirect taxes, and sector-specific duties.
• Sets the national framework for tax incentives, exemptions, and special economic measures.
• Ensures alignment of Bengen’s tax policy with EU norms, international treaties, and anti-avoidance standards.

Financial markets regulation

• Supervises and regulates financial markets, banking stability, insurance, and pension funds through the appropriate subordinated authorities.
• Enforces compliance with anti-money-laundering and financial-transparency rules.
• Authors regulations for capital markets, investment services, and securities issuance.
• Oversees audit standards, accounting regulations, and financial reporting frameworks.

Government funds and asset management

• Administers sovereign investment funds, stabilization funds, and strategic reserves.
• Manages federal capital injections, guarantees, and financial interventions in the national economy.
• Oversees EU structural and cohesion funds allocated to Bengen, ensuring proper use and reporting.
• Maintains federal ownership stakes and coordinates privatization or restructuring strategies.

Tax collection and enforcement

• Directs the Federal Fiscal Administration Service as the central authority for tax collection, enforcement, and fiscal investigation.
• Ensures uniform application of tax laws across all provinces, districts, and communes.
• Supervises collection of income tax, corporate tax, VAT, customs duties, excise duties, and other federal levies.
• Coordinates anti-fraud operations, financial-crime detection, and cross-border tax cooperation.
• Develops digital tax-administration systems, e-filing platforms, and risk-based audit mechanisms.
• Oversees taxpayer services, dispute resolution, and appeals processes.
